Connectivity models

Four ways to connect a device

Pick the one that suits where your devices go and how much freedom you want later. We will happily talk it through if you are not sure.

Single network

The device attaches to one operator, exactly like an ordinary SIM. Simplest and usually cheapest where your devices sit in one country and that operator's coverage is good enough on its own.

Multi-network

The profile can use more than one operator's radio network, so a device in a marginal spot can attach to whichever has signal. The usual choice for anything that moves, or anything installed where you cannot survey coverage first.

eUICC

The SIM hardware holds a rewritable profile. You can change which operator a device uses over the air, after it has shipped and been installed — without sending anyone out to swap a physical SIM.

Multi-IMSI

A single profile carries several network identities and the device switches between them according to rules you set. Often used to keep permanent-roaming costs down, or to satisfy countries that restrict how long a foreign SIM may roam.

FAQs

Before you enquire

How is an IoT eSIM different from the one in my phone?
The technology is the same; the way it is sold and managed is built for scale. An IoT eSIM is bought for a whole estate, priced on what that estate uses rather than per handset, and designed to run happily for years in hardware with no screen and nobody there to tap “accept”.
Do I have to take the sensors as well?
Not at all — plenty of customers take the connectivity on its own and put it in hardware they already have. The 500+ preconfigured sensors and the portal are there if you would rather the whole thing arrive working, and you can start with connectivity and add them later.
What does eUICC actually mean?
eUICC is SIM hardware whose network profile can be rewritten remotely. It means you can move a device to a different operator over the air, long after it has shipped and been installed — which is a very good thing when the device is on a roof, in a meter cupboard or in another country.
What is multi-IMSI, and how is it different from eUICC?
Multi-IMSI puts several network identities into one profile and switches between them by rule; eUICC replaces the whole profile remotely. Multi-IMSI is the lighter-touch way to keep roaming costs down, eUICC the more thorough way to change operator outright. Many deployments happily use both.
What can the portal do?
It gives you a single view of every device, on the web and on mobile: live readings, thresholds you set yourself, alerts when something crosses one, and reports you can pull for metrics and statistics. White labelling is available on request if you want it under your own brand.
Which countries do you cover?
Over 190. The exact operator list depends on the connectivity model you choose, so tell us where the devices will actually be — especially if any sit in markets with rules about how long a foreign SIM may roam, as that is worth getting right up front.
What form factor do the SIMs come in?
Tell us what your hardware takes and we will confirm the right fit. It is a quick conversation, and it means you get something that drops straight into the board you are already building around.
How is it priced?
By quote, so it is matched to your actual volume, geography and traffic pattern — which normally lands better than a published list price. Email [email protected] with the shape of the deployment and we will come back with numbers.
What about the 2G and 3G switch-off?
Worth planning for, and straightforward to plan for. Several European operators have already retired 3G with 2G following in some markets, so eUICC or multi-IMSI is a neat way to keep an estate current — you can move devices onto whatever network is still there without visiting a single one.
Can I try it before committing to a rollout?
Yes, and we would encourage it. A small trial batch is the best way to check coverage against your real sites and your real hardware before you scale up.
