Thailand eSIM

Land in Thailand already connected

Order before you fly and your eSIM is waiting in your inbox. Scan the QR code, step off the plane at Suvarnabhumi, Phuket or Chiang Mai, and your phone finds a Thai network on its own — no queue at an arrivals kiosk, no roaming bill when you get home.

Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore on one eSIM

This is a three-country bundle — Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand on one eSIM. That matches how most people actually travel this part of the world: a couple of nights in Singapore, up through Kuala Lumpur, then across to Bangkok and the islands, without buying a new SIM at every border.

Pick the length of your trip

Every plan below covers Thailand. Choose the number of days you're away — the price is fixed, you pay once, and nothing renews afterwards.

Live pricing from our local network carriers, shown in US dollars. Every plan is data only.

Where to go

Two coasts, a mountain north and a very large city

The islands on either side have opposite monsoon seasons, which is the single most useful thing to know when planning.

Central

Bangkok

Temples, the river boats and a Skytrain that beats the traffic by an order of magnitude. Grab and the transit apps do most of the work, and both need data.

Andaman coast

Phuket, Krabi & Ko Phi Phi

Limestone karsts, longtail boats and the best weather roughly November to April. Boat trips are weather-dependent and cancel at short notice.

Gulf coast

Ko Samui, Ko Pha Ngan & Ko Tao

Opposite season to the Andaman side — driest around June to September. Ferry timetables between the three change with the swell.

North

Chiang Mai & Pai

Old city temples, cooking schools and the mountain road north with 762 bends. Burning season in the spring is worth checking air quality for before you commit.

Northeast

Isaan

The part of the country most visitors skip: Khmer temple ruins, the Mekong border with Laos, and the best food in Thailand by a margin many will defend.

Ancient capitals

Ayutthaya & Sukhothai

Ruined temple cities within a day's reach of Bangkok, best seen by bicycle early. Train times to Ayutthaya are frequent but not always as published.

On the ground

What you'll actually use it for

Getting around

Grab for taxis and food, the BTS and MRT apps in Bangkok, and ferry timetables between islands that shift with the weather.

Reading the menu

Thai script is a genuine barrier at a street stall. Camera translation handles a hand-painted board in a second, and settles the chilli question before it arrives.

Staying in touch

WhatsApp, FaceTime and Signal all run over data, so calls home cost nothing beyond the plan you've already paid for.

Backing up photos

Let a fortnight of pictures sync as you travel rather than praying your phone survives the trip home. This is the one that eats data, so save it for the evening.

When plans go wrong

A cancelled train, a closed road or a hotel that can't find your booking. All of it is easier to fix with a working connection than without one.

How it works

Set it up before you leave home

The whole thing takes about as long as printing a boarding pass, and it's far easier done on your own Wi-Fi than in an airport queue.

1

Choose your dates

Pick the plan that matches how long you're in Thailand. The same eSIM also covers Malaysia and Singapore if you're carrying on.

2

Scan the QR code

It arrives by email as soon as you pay. Open your phone's mobile settings, add an eSIM, scan — done in under a minute, over Wi-Fi at home.

3

Switch it on in Thailand

Your plan starts when the eSIM first finds a network in Thailand, not when you bought it. Turn roaming off on your UK line and you're set.

FAQs

Before you book

Which network does a Thailand eSIM use?
Our Thailand plans roam onto TrueMove, one of Thailand's three main networks. You get the same coverage a local customer would — strong in Bangkok, the tourist islands and the main roads, thinner in remote hill areas.
Does it cover anywhere else?
Yes. This is a three-country bundle covering Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, which suits the usual overland route through the region. It does not cover Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos or Indonesia.
What does “unlimited” actually mean?
You get 1GB of full-speed data every day. After that the connection carries on at a reduced 384kbps for the rest of that day, then resets the next morning. There's no hard cut-off and no overage charge, so you can't run up a bill.
Isn't roaming with my UK network easier?
Easier, sometimes. Cheaper, almost never. Thailand sits outside most UK networks' inclusive roaming zones, so you're usually looking at a daily charge or per-megabyte rates that add up fast. Check your provider's rate for Thailand before you travel and compare it with a fixed one-off price.
Can I keep my UK number?
Yes. The eSIM runs alongside your existing SIM, so calls and texts still arrive on your UK number while your data goes over the local networks. Turn data roaming off on your UK line so nothing lands on your normal bill.
How much data do I need for a week?
For maps, messaging, translation and social media, most travellers use somewhere between 500MB and 1GB a day. These plans give you 1GB a day at full speed, which comfortably covers normal sightseeing. Streaming video or tethering a laptop will get through it faster.
Will it work on the islands and on ferries?
On the islands, yes — Ko Samui, Phuket, Ko Pha Ngan and the other developed islands all have good coverage. Out on the water between them the signal comes and goes, so download your ferry ticket and onward directions before you board.
Do I get a Thai phone number?
No, these are data-only plans. That covers maps, email, messaging and calls through WhatsApp, FaceTime or Signal. If you need a number that takes ordinary calls and texts, keep your UK SIM active alongside the eSIM.
Will my phone take an eSIM?
Most handsets released since 2018 will, including iPhone XR/XS and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer — as long as it isn't network locked. Look for “Add eSIM” or “Add data plan” in your mobile settings to check.
