What is a travel eSIM?
A travel eSIM is a digital SIM that downloads straight onto your phone, so you get local mobile data abroad without buying a physical SIM card or paying your UK network's roaming rates. You choose a destination and a data allowance, pay online, and install it by scanning a QR code.
Will my phone work with an eSIM?
Most phones released since 2018 support eSIM, including iPhone XR/XS and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer. Your handset also needs to be network unlocked. The quickest way to check is to look for “Add eSIM” or “Add data plan” in your mobile settings — if it's there, you're good to go.
How do I install my travel eSIM?
Your QR code is emailed to you as soon as payment clears. Open your phone's mobile or cellular settings, choose to add an eSIM, and scan the code. It usually takes under a minute. Install it before you travel, while you still have Wi-Fi.
Can I keep my UK number?
Yes. Your travel eSIM sits alongside your existing SIM, so you can still receive calls and texts on your UK number while your data runs over the eSIM. Turn data roaming off on your UK line to make sure nothing sneaks onto your normal bill.
When does my data plan start?
Your validity period begins when the eSIM first connects to a supported network at your destination — not when you buy it. That means you can install it days in advance without losing any of your allowance.
Do I get a phone number with it?
Most travel plans are data only, which covers maps, messaging, calls over WhatsApp or FaceTime, and everything else online. If you want a full plan with calls and texts included, take a look at our Everyday eSIMs instead.
What happens if I run out of data?
